Our History

Founded in 2018, the Institute for Public Safety and Law Enforcement was established in response to a critical national need: smarter, more integrated public safety solutions rooted in both academic insight and field-based experience.

The early years of the Institute were focused on bridging the gap between theory and practice in police training and emergency response. As public safety systems faced growing pressure—from evolving threats to calls for reform—the Institute responded by developing cross-disciplinary programs, research partnerships, and pilot initiatives that continue to shape best practices today.

Since its founding, the Institute has trained hundreds of professionals, collaborated with agencies across 25 states, and contributed to shaping local and federal public safety policy.
